At the end of May, the GNN Poll asked readers how the number of part time/seasonal staff members at the golf business where they work in 2021 would compare to last season, the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, most respondents, or 37 per cent, said they expected the seasonal staff to be the same size, with another 34 per cent saying the number would be less than in 2020. Another 29 per cent predicted their would be more seasonal staff members this year than in 2020.
With more Canadians getting vaccinated, case counts dropping and restrictions easing, golf operations may have altered their hiring plans, especially with June rounds the same or better than last year, according to last week’s poll.
Now that we’re well into July, we thought we’d see what actually happened with the hiring of summer staff, so we’re going to repeat the question.
