A few thoughts after last week’s announcement that Glen Abbey would remain a golf course to the delight of many in Oakville, Ont.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the one-time home of the Canadian Open as a future venue for the national championship.
Say what you want about Glen Abbey as a golf course, but it lends itself to hospitality, spectator viewing and television set-up, all major considerations for RBC and Golf Canada.
Speaking of Golf Canada, does its home base and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame remain on the grounds of the Abbey?
Did ClubLink receive future considerations on other developments from the Ontario government in exchange for backing off on the proposal for the Abbey, or did ClubLink figure it was a lost cause?
Or does ClubLink still want it now that it won’t be developed?
Enquiring minds want to know, but these questions won’t be answered immediately.
