With the holidays upon us, this will be the final GNN Poll of 2020, a year that can’t end soon enough because of coronavirus, according to so many people I’ve chatted with over the past 10 months or so.
As this year like no other was drawing to a close, there was good news for a change. With Health Canada approving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use in this country last week, initial immunization was set to begin this week with other vaccines pending approval.
The plan is to begin vaccinating the general population in April and have Canadians immunized by the end of next year. Then again, will all people get the shot, either because they don’t want it or are waiting cautiously to see if there are any side effects?
Does news of a vaccine add some extra cheer to the season, even if the holidays will be considerably different this year due to regulations on store openings and the size of gatherings, depending on where you live?
As the New Year approaches, record numbers of cases are being announced in various parts of the country, which could mean that restrictions on golf course operations could still apply when the season begins.
While so many operations reported remarkable increases in rounds played, wouldn’t it be great to open with a fully functioning food and beverage department and wide open pro shop, or to welcome members/public golfers the way we did before coronavirus?
That brings us to the question in the final GNN Poll of 2020. From a business perspective, how would you describe your attitude towards 2021.
