After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States suggested the cancellation or postponement of any events with 50 or more attendees for the next eight weeks, it didn’t take long for the PGA Tour to cancel the RBC Heritage, Zurich Classic, Wells Fargo Championshlp and AT&T Byron Nelson.
Then, the PGA of America announced it was postponing the PGA Championship (May 14-17), making it the second major this year to be put in a holding pattern after the Masters suffered a similar fate earlier this year.
The postponement of the PGA Championship means three events remain before the RBC Canadian Open is to be played at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Toronto and coronavirus shows no signs of loosening its grip at this point.
St. George’s is currently closed until early April as a precaution against coronavirus.
