The PGA of Canada’s annual general meeting takes place Thursday at St. Boniface Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg and while we’re expecting members from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to be present, members can also live stream it.
Of course, we’ll have our financial report ready and there are two big items on the agenda, one being that we’re revamping our education system.
We’ve had a survey done of stakeholders in golf who employ golf professionals, asking them what they would like to see from professionals.
We’re very big on pathways. Times have changed over the past 30 years and many golf professionals make their living at being coaches, so we need a pathway to try and develop the best coaches in the world.
Similarly, many golf professionals are becoming general managers and that’s totally different from coaching, so we need a specific pathway for that goal.
There are core competencies to be a golf professional, no doubt, but we need to be able to help those who want to specialize.
Another item that will be on the agenda is that we’re revamping the PGA of Canada website to make it more efficient for members and to better service members overall.
It will be user-friendly, not only for PGA of Canada members, but also for the public if they want to come on to find out about our association or tournaments or golf professionals.
If we don’t see you there, we hope you’ll connect via live streaming.
