I got to Orlando on Sunday for this week’s PGA Merchandise Show in a week that will be filled with meetings before I get back on Saturday.
It was much the same last year when I didn’t get out on the show floor once due to all the meetings, but I know I have at least one meeting on the show floor this year, so that will change. I hope I get more opportunities than that to take a look around, but it is a busy schedule.
This year, I have meetings with the Golf Channel, the PGAs of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain and Ireland. With the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland, we have a couple of meetings about our education programs and collaboration. Matt Allen and I have a meeting with the International Golf Federation, as well.
Beginning on Wednesday, we have the executive directors of all the zones meeting. It’s the first time since I took the job that it’s happened, maybe the first time ever. Last year, we had the presidents of the zones here. With the executive directors, we’ll be discussing best practices and information sharing.
The zones have always been very good at sharing among themselves and it’s nice that everyone will be in the same room to share information, resources and best practices and those discussions should be beneficial for members. I’ve learned so much from the zones since taking this job.
We also have meetings with supplier and sponsors and we have a bard of directors meeting all day Friday after Canada Night on Thursday, a night that everyone in the Canadian golf industry looks forward to each year.
It’s a busy week in Orlando, but everyone should come back with information that will benefit PGA of Canada members.
