As the numbers across the country have indicated, our rounds are up considerably at Point Grey and I think weather is a huge factor. Our season has been two-and-a-half months longer than usual to this point.
We get members around here saying that they’re tired, which isn’t really a surprise since a lot of them have played every day since March.
We’ve had weeks in which we’ve been booked from 7 a.m. until 5-6 p.m. and that’s unheard of, so the numbers are up here quite a bit.
So, weather has played a big part in rounds being up and our hope is that a great summer will set in for the long term with members and they’ll want to play more going forward, that they’re getting so much golf now that they’ll want to play more in the future.
Getting so much golf could become the norm in their activity levels and how they spend their money and time. You have a good summer like the one we’re in now and it could come back to them that they used to do this regularly, so the long-term effects will be good.
We’re curious to see how this holds out for the rest of the summer. In the early spring, they’ve just come through a long winter and they want to play as much as possible and in a summer like this, they want to play as much as they can because it’s so nice.
The last few weeks of August are always a little uncertain because a lot of people take family vacations before the kids go back to school, but it will be interesting to see how the first couple of weeks this month work out.
