I’ve been working since last Tuesday here at Point Grey Golf and Country Club and the weather has been perfect for golf, really indicative of the way the season has started.
A couple of nights, we’ve had showers, which is even better. You’ll wake up in the morning and the roads are nice, but the weather is great.
We’re getting into the longer days now and our tee sheet has been filled.
With the longer days, it’s now the time that people can get out here after work. We’re not just busy during the day, but our tee sheet is full until five in the afternoon and people are taking full advantage of it.
On the long weekend, we didn’t have a spot open.
Whether this signals a turnaround for the game remains to be seen. I’d like to think that, but normally people have to wait until May or June to put shorts on, so if they get a chance in mid-March to do it, you can bet they’re going to do it as soon as possible.
What’s great about that though is that because they do have the ability to get out here and they’re taking full advantage. You hear so often that people don’t have the time to play golf, but they’re out here now with the weather so good.
Maybe, it will snowball from there.
The mood is very buoyant out here, the course is in good shape and next week, we’ve got the PC Financial Open, a PGA Tour Canada event, at Point Grey.
We’re rocking into June and the mood is incredible. Let’s hope it continues to roll.
