With new responsibilities at Point Grey, I’ll be cutting down on my playing schedule this year, but I will still get to play some of the events I want to participate in.
It’s just a matter of deciding what I want to play. Obviously, the provincial events such as the PGA of British Columbia Assistants and PGA of B.C. Championship are two. On a national level, I may play the Canada Cup, but if I do, that will probably be the only one.
I won’t be playing the PGA of Canada Championship. As much as I’d like to, it’s a long way to go for possibly one day.
Sometimes, I wonder if they should change the format to a couple of rounds of qualifying, then do the match play, just so players know they’ll be there for at least three or four days.
I love match play. It’s a blast and I love the idea that the event is match play, but it can be a long expensive trip to go for possibly one day as it stands right now.
However, there is a lot going on provincially that I can play and we’ve got the PGA of B.C. here at Point Grey in August, so that should be great.
The people here at Point Grey are good about things like that, but with this being my first year here, I want to be around and not going off every second week to play.
