As Ping prepares for its 50th anniversary in 2009, it is introducing the new Rapture V2 metalwoods, Rapture V2 and S57 irons and iWi putters.
The newest offerings from Ping will complement the G10 Series and i10 irons and the i-Series and Karsten Series putters that were launched just over a year ago.
“The response to the entire G10 Series, the i10 irons and the new putters has been beyond expectations,” said Ping chairman and chief executive officer John Solheim. “At a time when the golf industry is somewhat stagnant, we’re experiencing growth. That says a lot about the performance of our equipment and our brand. All these products will be a major emphasis going forward.”
“The Rapture V2 Series and iWi putters all incorporate multi-metal technology,” added Solheim. “Each of the new designs combines key properties of its various materials to optimize performance. The common material throughout all of the new products is tungsten. From the driver to the putters, we’ve utilized the density of tungsten in strategic locations to optimize weight distribution and maximize performance. Plus, they all offer multiple fitting variables to ensure golfers can be properly fit for every club in their bag.”

Rapture V2 Driver
Featuring a 460 c.c. titanium body, the Rapture V2 driver has external tungsten weight pads in the back near the heel and toe to position centre of gravity for lower spin and high launch with higher moment of inertia (MOI) for better distance and accuracy.
The Rapture V2 is plasma-welded, machined and comes with a variable thickness face for increased ball speed. It has a taller face and an aggressively-tapered crown with a double-Rapture alignment aid on the crown.
The Rapture V2 comes in lofts of nine, 10.5, 12 and 13.5 degrees with either Ping TFC939D or Mitsubishi Diamana Blue shafts in various flexes. Fitting variables include loft, shaft flex/type, shaft length, grip size/type and swingweight.

Rapture V2 Fairway Woods
The 17-4 stainless steel body has a tungsten sole plate that weighs 61 grams and accounts for 34 per cent of the head’s mass to promote higher launch and lower spin through centre of gravity.
The Rapture V2 fairways have a larger, shallow head profile for better forgiveness and performance from all conditions and is plasma-welded, machined, with variable face thickness for more distance. A double-Rapture alignment aid is on the crown.
The V2 fairways are available in three (171 c.c./16 degrees), four (169/17.5), five (165/19) and seven (160/22).
Shaft options include the Ping TFC939F and Misubishi JavInFX in various flexes. Fitting options include shaft flex/type, shaft length, grip size/type and swingweight.

Rapture V2 Hybrids
Made of 17-4 stainless steel, the tungsten sole plate in the Rapture V2 hybrids weighs 112 grams and comprises 48 per cent of the head’s mass to promote higher launch through centre of gravity.
The V2 hybrids have a longer face profile and an expanded hitting area for more forgiveness. They are plasma-welded and machined and feature variable face thickness for added distance.
Lofts available include 17, 20, 23 and 27 degree lofts. Graphite shaft options include the Ping TFC939H and Mitsubishi JavInFX in various flexes. Steel shaft options include the Ping AWT in various flexes and Z-Z65 in stiff flex. Fitting variables include shaft flex/type, shaft length, grip size/type and swingweight.

Rapture V2 Irons
The new Rapture V2 irons feature a tungsten sole weight, titanium face and 17-4 stainless steel body with elastomer CTP insert.
The lightweight titanium face in these oversized, forgiveness irons frees weight that is re-allocated to the wider sole in the form of tungsten to position centre of gravity for higher launch and increased moment of inertia.
The higher launch angles allow for the stronger lofts to increase distance, without losing control, while the Custom Tuning Port with elastomer insert stabilizes the face for better feel and consistent response across the club face.
The Rapture V2 irons are available in three through nine and four wedges. The standard graphite shaft is a Ping TFC9391 in several flexes, while the standard steel shaft is a Ping AWT, also in several flexes.
Fitting variables include 12 colour codes of lie angle, shaft flex/type, grip size/type and swingweight.

S57 Irons
Featuring a 17-4 stainless steel body, the S57s comes with a tungsten toe weight and dual, vertical stabilizing bars to offer feel, forgiveness and distance control.
With a brushed silver chrome finish, the machined face and grooves are designed to offer consistent performance across the hitting area.
The S57s are available in two through nine and pitching wedge. Shaft options include a True Temper Dynamic Gold and Ping TFC128i, both in various flexes. Fitting variables include 12 colour codes of lie angle, shaft flex/type, shaft length, grip size/type and swingweight.

iWi Putters
Interchangeable weight inserts are designed to make customization possible.
The iWi putters come standard with two 12-gram steel weights on the sole near the heel and toe, while a two-piece insert provides the steel face with soft feel.
An optional weight kit, sold separately, allows golfers to modify their putter weights to preferred feel and to match their strokes.
The iWi putters are available in Anser, Zing, B60, D66, Craz-E and 1/2Craz-E. The weight kit includes two 28-gram tungsten weights, two extra screws, wrench and protective pouch.
Fitting variables include nine colour codes of lie angle, nine weight choices with the purchase of a weight kit, shaft length, loft and grip type.
