TaylorMade has introduced the new P•790 Black, featuring the same hollow body construction, SpeedFoam and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket of the original, but in black PVD finish.
The premium high-gloss aesthetic is achieved via an advanced PVD (physical vapor deposition) process. First, solid metal is vaporized into plasma before it’s used to precisely coat the iron, producing the new look.
“P•790 is elegant aggression,” said Matt Bovee, director of irons product creation for TaylorMade.
“The bold aesthetic blends perfectly with the powerful performance, delivering a daring look and irons that are made to take on daring shots. Packed with all the technology of the original chrome finish, this set will stand out in the bag and on the course,” he added.
The defining features include a hollow body construction filled with a lightweight SpeedFoam material. This technological pairing is used for better perimeter weighting. They also feature a thin face for fast ball speeds with maintained feel.
A low-profile tungsten weight is engineered to deliver a lower centre of gravity and higher launch.
The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is designed to maximize ball speed and provide added forgiveness on strikes low on the face. At the same time, Progressive Inverted Cone Technology is used to improve accuracy and protection of off-centre ball speed.
Available at retail now for $1,849 Cdn., P•790 Black irons are offered in 4-PW and come equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 Black as well as the Golf Pride TV 360 Gray/Black. They’re available in righthanded and lefthanded.
