The Beaconsfield Golf Club on Montreal’s West Island of Montreal is seeking a golf course superintendent.
Reporting to the club’s general manager, the superintendent is a part of the senior management team and is responsible for and entrusted with the successful operation and management of the golf course maintenance department, parking lots and overseeing the clubhouse grounds maintenance, including winter snow removal.
Providing agronomic direction to maintain the golf course at the highest level of playing conditions attainable in the club’s climate.
Following industry standards for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees and other applicable plant materials.
Developing and implementing programs for turfgrass, material and chemical maintenance and asset management.
Establishing good working relationships with regulatory bodies.
Preparing an annual budget and achieving the financial goals through proper forecasting, expense controls and labour management.
Constantly motivate and develop staff.
Attending and coordinating all committee meetings as may be relevant.
Communicating with ,embers and keeping them informed about current and future maintenance activities.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management including a college or university diploma or degree in turf management and a valid pesticide licence.
A minimum five years of experience working in a management role at a golf property with some private club experience.
Knowledge of current, local, provincial and federal laws and regulations affecting golf course operations.
History of providing a safe working environment with an emphasis on maintaining all regulatory requirements.
Working knowledge of golf facilities, fleet management, construction principles and methods.
Knowledge of Rainbird Irrigation and Drainage Systems and water requirements.
Construction experience is an asset.
Experience in a work culture that emphasizes both personal responsibility and accountability.
Demonstrated team player who is able to foster relationships with members, guests and staff.
Ability to craft presentations and to deliver to the board/members, committees and staff.
Thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
Ability to mentor course staff.
Financial management experience of the operational and capital golf course budgets.
A history of providing outstanding service to membership.
Language skills in French and English, both written and oral, an asset.
