Cabot Links in Inverness, N.S., is seeking a superintendent, who will bring a strong presence and leadership to its team and, through this, create superior course conditions for resort guests.

Duties
Ability to attract, hire, train and oversee the scheduling of all turf maintenance staff.
Develop and implement a comprehensive course maintenance schedule, including all clubhouse grounds.
Ensure the prolonged health and sustainability of the turfgrass with the use of appropriate applications.
Manage purchases of maintenance and course supplies
Supervise the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment alongside the equipment manager.
Oversee and implement various on-course projects and development.
Assist with all winter snow clearing and maintenance requirements.
Work with Cabot Cliff’s superintendent to ensure operational success.
Assist the director of agronomy with fiscal budgets, emphasizing cost control and labour budgets.
Implement Cabot operating, human resources, safety policies and procedures for the turf department and golf course operation and maintenance.
Report daily to the Director of Agronomy on golf course conditions and concerns, staffing issues and activities, equipment and inventory status.
Plan and schedule work duties of department personnel. Monitor performance to ensure safety, customer service standards and productivity goals are achieved. Keep overtime hours to a minimum.
Coordinate and oversee the turf department personnel’s daily activities, monitor performance, provide evaluations and implement performance improvement plans as appropriate.
Ensure that the grounds are maintained per company standards.
Implement all approved agronomic plans according to written and verbal instructions.
Coordinate golf course improvements, repairs and maintenance programs, while considering player access, golf season peaks and company goals.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of operating and capital budgets.
Assist with financial forecasts and analyzing budget variances.
Ensure accurate tracking of inventories, fertilizer and pesticide applications, cultural activities and weather conditions.
Maintain a pleasant and professional manner when addressing associates, contractors, sales personnel and guests.
Liaise with human resources on employment activities, including but not limited to personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline and termination, etc.
Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and record-keeping reports.
Maintain knowledge of current industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
Ensure all practices and tasks comply with the company’s environmental protection policy.
Accountable for all accurate calibration of all application equipment required for fertilizer and pesticide applications.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in turfgrass science or a related field.
Three-plus years in a similar management role in the golf industry.
Experience with managing irrigation systems and pump house operations.
Ability to repair and troubleshoot irrigation issues.
Have or be willing to get a Nova Scotia pesticide applicator’s licence.
Excellent communication skills when dealing with guests and colleagues alike.
Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
