Capilano Golf and Country Club in West Vancouver, B.C., is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic second assistant superintendent to become an integral part of the course and grounds leadership team.
This position is ideal for someone looking to develop leadership and management skills in preparation for becoming a golf course superintendent.
Be responsible for aiding in overseeing the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course and associated grounds and facilities.
Be responsible for any facets of staff management related to full-time seasonal, part-time seasonal and interning staff.
Be responsible for supervising and training staff in the field and prioritizing and coordinating tasks with the assistant superintendents.
Ensure all work is completed by the team in a safe and efficient manner to the expected standard as set by the club’s Course Standards Manual.
In the absence of the course superintendent and assistant superintendents, be responsible for making decisions and fill those responsibilities.
Be a member of the course and grounds leadership team, included in weekly meetings and all daily and high level course long range planning discussions.
Work closely with and learn from the course superintendent and assistant superintendents and also take part in discussions with the club’s consultants.
An individual who has graduated with a degree or two year diploma from a recognized institution and turfgrass related field. Three years minimum working on a golf course is also required along with a desire to secure a management role and eventually become a golf course superintendent.
