Oak Island Seeks Superintendent

Oak Island Golf Club in Virden, Man., is seeking a golf course superintendent who will report to the general manager,

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the golf course property, including the golf course and surrounding areas, the turf maintenance team and working closely with other key management to make every member and guest experience first class.

This is a nine-month term with year-round employment opportunity a possibility.

Responsibilities

Provide members and guest with an exceptional course experience through continuously improving course conditions.

Work closely with the general manager on any issues related to golf course maintenance.

Ensure all record keeping and required government permits are current.

Hire, train, supervise and inspire the turf management team to help provide the best possible conditions for members to enjoy.

Schedule, plan and coordinate all golf course maintenance and improvements with the general manager.

Develop and monitor a yearly operational budget in a fiscally responsible manner.

Provide a safe work environment on the course for the maintenance team through staff training and supervision.

Ensure playing conditions are always at the highest standards while working within the operating budget.

Qualifications

Minimum of five years on-course experience in all facets of turf management.

Diploma or Certificate in turf management.

Manitoba pesticide applicator’s licence or ability to attain.

Valid driver’s licence.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and on evenings/weekends/holidays when necessary.

Compensation

Competitive compensation package will include association membership dues, competitive salary and professional development.
