Pender Harbour Golf Club, operated and managed by the Pender Harbour Golf Club Society on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast has announced the appointment of the Canadian and British based golf course architectural firm, Lobb and Partners.
Lobb and Partners will conduct a golf course review and provide a hole-by-hole documentation of the nine-hole facility as it exists today.
This review process and the resulting submission will enable Lobb and Partners, in conjunction with course superintendent Allan Dewald and the volunteer member board, to prioritize a list of golf course improvement projects. The course review and priority list will then form the foundation for future planning and course improvement decisions.
At the forefront of this project is an understanding Pender Harbour Golf Club is a smaller, community focused golf club that recognizes a need to innovate and to provide consistency in their course planning and improvements process.
“PHGC’s strategic partnership with Lobb and Partners is envisioned as a massive opportunity to partner with a reputable global golf course architecture and consulting firm,” said Brett Hallborg, a board member at Pender Harbour.
“Strategic planning and short-term goal setting, utilizing the expertise of Lobb and Partners, will surely enable Pender Harbour Golf Club to continue to operate successfully as a society under the B.C. Societies Act, while further growing the game of golf on the Sunshine Coast,” he said.
Oliver Tubb, design associate for Lobb and Partners, looks forward to building a future vision with forward thinking people.
“Not only is PHGC a memorable golf experience and wonderful example of successful community golf, it is also example of passionate, innovative, forward thinking people, who have come together over their love for golf,” he said.
“We are really excited for this opportunity and look forward to working with Allan and his team, along with the society members, to help craft a sustainable vision and plan for course improvements,” said Tubb, a PGA of Canada member.
The review work with Pender Harbour Golf Club is scheduled to commence during the winter of 2020.
