
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and Foley Company have announced that Kevin Hennigar, head equipment manager from Angus Glen and Goodwood Golf Courses in Markham Ont., is the Equipment Technician of the Year Award winner for 2021.
The CGSA/Foley Company Equipment Technician of the Year Award is presented annually to the technician whose nomination is judged to be the best example of an individual who exhibits professionalism, innovation, and a team approach to make a significant contribution to their golf facility and the golf community.
As the winner of this award, Hennigar will receive an “All-Access” registration to the Canadian 2022 Golf Course Management Conference from March 1-3 and be presented with his award on Wednesday, March 2. He will also receive a Foley gift package valued at $1,000.
“When I first met Kevin he stood out to me by how he serviced equipment, shared information with other technicians but most importantly with me. He has worked hard over the past few years to set up both facilities to be safe, clean and organized workshops,” said Ron Allen, equipment technician at Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club, who nominated Hennigar..
“His ability to keep every day lighthearted, never getting discouraged and always available to help anyone in need including sharing tips on social media – when I think of Kevin, I truly believe he is somebody who is always lifting others up,” he added.
CGSA president John C. Scott, AGS, broke the news to Hennigar about winning th award.
“CGSA is proud to recognize Kevin and all he represents in this profession. His leadership and management skills along with problem solving skills, his proactive approach and willingness to help and educate other equipment technicians is a testament that he is very deserving of this award. Congratulations Kevin,” said Scott.
