Saskatoon Golf And Country Club Requires An Assistant Superintendent

The Saskatoon Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole private course, is in need of a assistant golf course superintendent.

The club celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2007 and went through a nine-hole renovation designed by Ian Andrew that same year, including a three-hole practice loop and driving range. The course maintenance department consists of 15 staff during the summer months.

Responsibilities

To assist the golf course superintendent, and equipment manager in a team approach in the implementation of all maintenance schedules and capital projects.

Assist in the hiring of new staff.

Assist in the training of staff in the safe operation and care of maintenance equipment.

Supervision of staff to ensure completion of all daily tasks with particular attention to detail.

Able to balance supervision with the “hands on approach” in getting the job done and setting the proper example with the staff.

Must interact in a positive manner with the membership.

Skills and Competencies

Must hold or be able to get ASAP a Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicators Licence.

Applicants should have a minimum of two years of post-secondary education in turf management and five years of practical experience.

Knowledgeable in all aspects of computerized irrigation operation and system repair.

Must have extensive experience in all aspects of fertilizer and pesticide application, as well as detailed record keeping.

Strong computer skills an asset, (MS Word, Excel, GCM for windows, Rainbird Cirrus Irrigation).

Being mechanically inclined an asset

A comprehensive compensation and benefit package is available to the successful candidate.

This is a year-round position, starting January 2020.
