St. Charles Country Club In Winnipeg is seeking an assistant superintendent to join its turfcare management team for the upcoming 2023 season in which the second phase of a restoration of the MacKenzie and Ross courses led by golf architect Jim Urbina will be underway.
The first stage was completed in the fall of 2022 and is now growing in and when opened, the club will begin the second phase (Ross).
The restoration will feature a new irrigation system, complete bunker reconstruction, green and fairway expansions and re-grassing, tee reconstruction and tree removal. Additionally, the club is working on a master plan for the Woods nine.
Management and quality control of the day-to-day activities of a seasonal team of 28.
Training of seasonal staff to desired quality and safety standards.
Participates and directs on course projects as assigned by the course superintendent.
Irrigation repairs and water management on all playing surfaces.
Application of fertilizers and plant health products, calibration and maintenance of GPS guided spray equipment and associated record keeping.
A degree or diploma in turfgrass management or comparable education.
Five years experience in turfgrass management. Preference will be given to candidates with previous management/supervisory experience.
Manitoba pesticide applicator’s licence or ability to obtain within three months.
A positive attitude and track record as a strong team member.
