The Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club, an 18 hole semi private golf facility in Sturgeon County, Alta. is seeking a golf course superintendent, who will report to the general manager and work with the club’s golf and greens committee.
Participate in the development and the implementation of course standards and maintenance for the golf course and grounds areas.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills and be an integral member of the management team.
Hire, train, supervise, mentor and evaluate the maintenance personnel.
Prepare, manage and administer the course maintenance budget in conjunction with the general manager.
Provide regular and up to date communication on course conditions, maintenance activities, projects, safety issues, expenses and labour.
Offer professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the general manager and the golf and greens committee as required.
Possess a strong attention to detail.
Keep accurate and complete records on the inventories, maintenance equipment, pesticide and fertilizer applications and other practices of the Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club grounds department.
Develop a workplace culture that provides a superior golf experience for members, guests and all who play the club.
Maintain effective communication with the management team, fellow employees, club committees, members, and suppliers.
A minimum of thre years experience as a Class “A” superintendent in good standing with the CanadianGolf Superintendents Association or an assistant superintendent with five years experience.
A graduate of a recognized turf grass Program.
A highly motivated professional with strong interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to recruit, train, lead and manage staff to achieve high productivity and excellent results.
Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent computer skills.
Valid pesticide and applicator’s licence.
Knowledge of and playing the game of golf is an asset.
Ability to follow, develop and improve the club’s maintenance standards and practices.
Be current and well versed in all aspects of turf grass management.
Knowledgeable in computerized irrigation system, repairs and maintenance.
Negotiate, coordinate and supervise course improvement projects.
Possess the necessary financial management skills for operational and capital budgets, including equipment replacement plans.
