Tee Zone Driving Range Requires Driving Range Grounds Operations Lead/Office Administrator

Tee Zone Driving Range in Oakville, Ont., is seeking a driving range grounds operations lead and a driving range office administrator.

Driving Range Grounds Operations Lead

Reporting to the director of golf operations and working with the Tee Zone executive committee, the driving range grounds operations lead will maintain a positive, safe, and professional work environment while receiving all necessary support to meet facility objectives and written maintenance standards.

This candidate will be a working “lead” who will guide staff in the upkeep of the golf driving range facility. This individual must have a attention to detail, enjoy working outdoors and possess a positive attitude.

Qualifications

A collaborative leader with some golf and/or facilities management experience.

Ability to build, mentor, train and motivate a team and delegate roles and responsibilities.

The ability to develop a respectful and positive employee work culture and customer experience.

An excellent team leader with good organizational and communication skills.

Experience in golf course/sport management will be considered an asset.

Good understanding of turf technology and environmental practices.

Good understanding of equipment requirements and maintenance practices.

Ability e to operate various ground maintenance equipment.

Knowledge and training in WHMIS and other workplace safety requirements.

Proficient with irrigation control.

Valid driver’s permit.

Physically fit to work outside.

Duties/Responsibilities

To assist in hiring and training outdoor maintenance and operation team.

Respectfully train and lead outdoor staff to complete assigned tasks.

Implement safety policies and enforce compliance with Tee Zone safety program.

Responsible for daily practice facility set-up including tee deck, putting green, sand trap and teaching area.

Lead and oversee cutting, seeding, fertilizing and watering of all grass areas including the tee deck, putting green and practice areas.

Lead and maintain all areas of property (parking lot, flower beds, signage areas, perimeter fencing, sand trap, etc.) keeping free of weeds, litter, etc.

Coordinate daily ball picking activities.

Ensure balls are picked, cleaned, transported to bins to ensure ball inventory exceeds peak demand at all times.

Make sure all equipment is maintained and working at all times.

Report any equipment that is not working properly.

Ensure all staff complete and sign off on a daily work sheet listing all tasks performed and completed during their shifts for the day.

Maintain accurate records for maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, irrigation schedules, grass cutting schedules, and inventory of course maintenance supplies (lubricants, fuel, etc.).

Coordinate and plan daily, weekly and seasonal tasks with Tee Zone management.

Schedule, train, supervise, discipline and motivate staff to achieve stated goals and Tee Zone mission statement expectations.

Ensure that each employee has received a complete orientation of the entire facility and training in their assigned duties including the use of company supplied safety equipment.

Lead and oversee the application of fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals while maintaining compliance with government regulations. Take responsibility for the safe storage of chemical and fertilizer inventories.

Monitor water use throughout the facility.

Lead and oversee maintenance, lubrication and cleaning of turf equipment.

Coordinate/ensure the safe and proper functioning of golf course equipment.

Submit period reports on fuel usage for accounting purposes.

Maintain housekeeping standards in the maintenance buildings, maintenance storage areas and throughout the property.

Ensure that regular disposal of garbage and recycling is performed by waste disposal contractor.

Other tasks or duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Schedule: 40 hours per week. Must be flexible in terms of working hours (opening, closing, weekends, holidays).

This position is a nine-month term with the possibility of being extended to a 12-month work period.

Compensation: Tee Zone offers competitive compensation package commensurate with the candidate’s education, experience and industry qualifications.

Driving Range Office Administrator

Reporting to the director of golf operations and working with the Tee Zone executive committee, the driving range office administrator will maintain a positive, safe, and professional work environment ,while receiving all necessary support to meet facility objectives.

Qualifications

A proactive and collaborative leader with some facilities administration experience.

Ability to build, mentor, train and motivate a team and delegate roles and responsibilities.

Ability to develop a respectful and positive employee work culture and customer experience.

An excellent team leader with good organizational and communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Experience in golf management/sport management/business administration will be considered an asset.

Good understanding of the business of golf will be considered an asset.

Budget management skills and forecasting.

Knowledge and training in WHMIS and other workplace safety requirements.

Proficient using Word, Excel, and Point of Sale Systems.

Valid Driver’s permit.

Valid Smart Serve.

Must posses a positive attitude, be friendly with staff and customers and provide a respectful environment for all.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist in the hiring and training of staff with a focus on customer service excellence and overall guest experience.

Schedule, train, supervise, discipline and motivate staff to achieve stated goals and Tee Zone mission statement expectations.

Oversee and execute golf shop operations, policies, procedures, and fee structures.

Coordinate with operations lead to prepare and submit weekly labour and sales report to the director of golf operations every Monday by 12 p,m.

Maintain accurate records for payroll, inventory and purchases for accounting purposes.

Ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory and property resources.

Working with the director of golf operations, oversee merchandising activities for the golf shop including buying product, managing inventory and pricing/promotion strategies

Create weekly schedules for staff.

Send daily revenue reports to Tee Zone executive committee.

Bring cash deposits and cheques to bank three times per week.

Provide requested financial reports to accounting department

Ensure all permits and licences are in place for maintenance operations and capital projects (including Business Licence and Liquor Licence.

Submit and manage the water sampling for Halton Region.

Ensure all safety policies and enforce compliance with Tee Zone safety program.

Maintain all areas of pro shop (front counter, bathrooms, storage areas, patio, etc.) keeping clean at all times.

Ensure all staff complete and sign off on a daily work sheet, listing all tasks performed and completed during their shift for the day.

Maintain accurate and complete records including payroll, inventory, and merchandise orders to ensure there is never a shortage of consumables and sale products.

Coordinate and plan daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks with Tee Zone management.

Ensure that each employee has received a complete orientation of the entire facility and training in their assigned duties, including the use of company supplied safety equipment.

Ensure that regular disposal of garbage and recycling is performed by waste disposal contractor.

Ensure a regular cleanup of garbage in and around the pro shop (including bathrooms).

Address guest and member issues/complaints and resolve problems quickly.

Ensure all Tee Zone staff and customers are treated equitably and respectfully.

Consider and explore new revenue streams (advertisements, school events, business events).

Other tasks or duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Schedule: 40 hours per week. Must be flexible in terms of working hours (opening, closing, weekends, holidays).

This position is a nine month term with the possibility of being extended to a 12-month work period.

Compensation: A competitive compensation package commensurate with the candidate’s education, experience and industry qualifications.
