
Alan McLean of London, Ont., opened the final stage of PGA Tour Champions qualifying school with a five-under 66 that has him tied for second, two shots off the lead, in Scottsdale, Az.
Dennis Hendershott finished the day with a one-under 70 and is tied for 26th.

I’ve never been sure apart form an old boys club mentality, why the PGA Tour Champions only allows 5 players in with full status out of Q School every year. There are 78 players in the field each week , so easily room for more than 5.
The guys who did well financially on the PGA Tour always know there’s a place for them, it’s the grinders like Scott Parel who only had 5 starts on the PGA Tour, and ground out 222 on the Korn Ferry Tour who qualified in 2017 that have gone on to a stellar career on the Senior Circuit and of course the story of the year in 2022 with Kiwi Steve Alker winning POY
If they can do it, I say so could many others with similar backgrounds when they turn 50, if they just had a decent chance.
