Canadians took four of 13 spots available at a final U.S. Open qualifier in Dallas on Monday as Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor, Ben Silverman and Roger Sloan will move on to the U.S. Open.
Hughes had just one bogey as he opened with a six-under 65 at Royal Oaks, then followed up with a three-under 68 on Lakewood.
Taylor duplicated those scores and with a combined nine under after 36 holes, both players tied for sixth as did Silverman, who fired a 64 on Lakewood, then followed up with a 69 on Royal Oaks.
Sloan and Hadwin tied for 12th at seven under at the end of regulation to send them into a six-for-two playoff for the remaining spots in the U.S. Open. Sloan birdied the second extra hole to take one spot, but Hadwin missed qualifying.
The U.S. Open will be played June 16-19 at the Country Club in Brookline, Mass.
