Industry Notes: Doubt About Olympics In Japan, PGA Of Alberta Cancels 2021 Consumer Shows And More

More than 80 per cent of people in Japan say they believe this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo will not take place due to COVID-19, according to a couple of recent polls. The CBC has more here. As it stands now, Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp would play in the women’s golf competition, with Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Conners representing Canada on the men’s side, if the Olympics went ahead … The PGA of Alberta has cancelled the Calgary and Edmonton consumer golf shows due to COVID-19 concerns. They will not be rescheduled at a later date in 2021 … Augusta National has announced that it intends to have a limited number of patrons fans at this year’s Masters. The Augusta National Women’s Amateur and Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals will also be conducted after being canceled in 2020 … This week’s GNN Poll asks readers if job uncertainty in the golf business due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused them to delay an important purchase, such as a home.
