Sergio Garcia has returned to TaylorMade

Corey Conners will start on the first tee of the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in Thursday’s first round of this week’s PGA Championship. Playing with Tony Finau and Matt Fitzpatrick, Conners gets underway at 1:03 p.m. local time. Adam Hadwin starts on the 10th tee at 1:20 p.m. and Mackenzie Hughes also starts on the 10th at 2:37 p.m. All tee times are here … Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health, has said he would like to see new cases well below 1,000 a day before lockdown measures that have closed golf courses in the province have eased. On Tuesday, the province reported 1,616 new cases, the lowest daily case count since March. Ontario’s seven-day average for number of cases reported is 2,287, down from the 2,914 reported a week earlier … Matt Hill of Brights Grove, Ont., fired a four under 68 on Monday to take the fifth and final qualifying spot available at a U.S.

He now moves on to sectionals … At the Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Mass., on Monday, Matt Shubley of Whitby, Ont., shot a two under 70 to tie for second at local qualifying and move on to sectionals … TaylorMade has announced the return of former Masters champ Sergio Garcia to its lineup as brand ambassadors. Garcia previously spent 15 years with TaylorMade. “The opportunity to reunite with Sergio is one we couldn’t let pass by. Over the course of nearly two decades, we’ve built a deep connection and familiarity. He understands the history of our brand, the performance of our products and who we are as a people. We truly welcome his return to Team TaylorMade,” said CEO David Abeles. Garcia will play the SIM2 Max nine degree driver, SIM Rocket 14.5 degree three wood, SIM 19 degree five wood, P•750 Irons (3-PW) and 2021 TP5x Golf Ball #85 … As of Tuesday afternoon, a GoFundMe page set up for Tim Kubash, the CEO of Western Rootzone, a Master Superintendent and former president of the British Columbia Golf Superintendents Association, had raised more than $23,500 in is first day. The goal is $150,000. Kubash suffered a serious accident on May 5 that required two air ambulance trips that eventually took him to the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital. He suffered a break to his C6 and C7 vertebrae and received emergency surgery. Funds raised will be used towards therapy and any living space alterations that may be required once he is able to go home to Salmon Arm, B.C.
