Industry Notes: R&A/USGA Announce Changes To Rules Of Amateur Status, Delayed Openings In U.K. And More

Golf will be included in the first wave of sports in the United Kingdom to reopen after stay at home requirements end, but there is disappointment, given the game’s reputation as one in which players can safely social distance during the coronavirus pandemic, that courses will remain closed until March 29 … The R&A and the USGA have announced proposals for significant changes to the Rules of Amateur Status, including the elimination of sponsorship restrictions. For more information, click here … Mackenzie Hughes is the lone Canadian at this week’s WGC-Workday Classic in Bradenton, Fla. … This week’s GNN PoIl asks if agreeing to take the COVID–19 vaccination should be a condition of employment in the golf industry.
