July 21, 2021 By GNN

Mike Weir

Defending champion Wes Short Jr., Mike Weir and Stephen Ames have committed to the 2021 Shaw Charity Classic Aug. 13-15 at Calgary’s Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. For Weir, it will be his first competitive appearance in Canada since joining PGA Tour Champions last year. The 2020 Shaw Charity Classic was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “I have really enjoyed being out here on the PGA Tour Champions. The 50s is a new phase of my life and it has been great. Life’s good and my game’s showing up so I’m in a really good place and can’t wait to get back up to Canada,” said Weir …  David Morland IV of Aurora, Ont., the lone Canadian in the Senior Open Championship field, will tee it up in Thursday’s first round at 10:50 local time at Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England. Those tee times are here … Adam Hadwin will be the first Canadian to tee off in Thursday’s first round of the 3M Open in Blaine, Minn. Hadwin is off at 7:23 a.m. local time. All the tee times are here … The Korn Ferry Tour is in Springfield, Mo., for the Price Cutter Championship, where Ben Silverman will tee it up at 7:42 a.m. local time. Those tee times are here … This week’s GNN Poll asks readers if the golf operations where they work found it more difficult hiring seasonal staff this year due to a labour shortage or fewer people applying. At last glance, 74 per cent of respondents said yes, with 26 per cent voting no. If you haven’t done so, you can cast your vote on the GNN home page.
