Golf Canada has announced the nine individuals named as inaugural participants in its 2021 Women in Coaching program. Each participant receives career development support that is focused on four main areas: sports science and coaching education, hands-on training experiences with coaches and top players, project work and individualized learning plans. Recipients are awarded a $2,500 bursary to help offset costs for the hands-on training portion of the program. The nine participants include Casey Ward, Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, Emma DeGroot, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Bri-ann Tokariwski, Elmhurst Golf and Country Club/Golf Manitoba, Dawn Turner, Grey Hawk Golf Club/University of Ottawa, Kyla Inaba, Predator Ridge Resort, Michelle McCann, Uplands Golf Club, Elizabeth Asselin, Royal Québec Golf Club, Sarah Landry, University of Montreal and Carla Munch, Cambridge Golf Club/University of Waterloo, Ontario … Nick Taylor will be the first Canadian off the tee at the Sony Open in Hawaii, which gets underway Thursday in Honolulu. Taylor begins on the first tee at 8:20 a.m. local time. Roger Sloan, Mackenzie Hughes, David Hearn, Mike Weir and Michael Gligic are also in the field.
