Leblanc Two Shots Off The Lead After Day In Which She “Didn’t Hit My Best”

Maude-Aimee Leblanc opened the DIO Implant LA Open with a four-under 67 that has her tied for fourth, just two shots off the lead held by Mi Hyang Lee.

Leblanc made three birdies and two bogeys on her first nine to make the turn at one under before she put up four birdies, including a chip-in from the bunker on 17, against a bogey on the second nine.

“The wind started picking up a little bit on the back, so it made it harder to commit to yardages and targets, but other than that, I got lucky today. A lot. I’m not going to lie, made a lot of good putts, didn’t hit my best out there at all, so just one of those that I’ll just run away with,” said Leblanc.

“It feels good definitely knowing that I didn’t have my best stuff out there, but I feel like for whatever reason, I always play decent in California,” she said.

“I feel like I like the conditions, I like the greens, which I feel like most players don’t because they are a little bit bumpier than what we’re used to,” said Leblanc.

Maddie Szeryk shot a 78 in Thursday’s first round.

Alena Sharp shot a one-over 73 in Thursday’s first round of the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, where she’s tied for 32nd.
