LPGA Tour Event Shortened To 54 Holes Due To Storm

November 10, 2022 By GNN

Brooke Henderson

The LPGA Tour announced Wednesday evening that the Pelican Women’s Championship in Belleair, Fla., has been shortened to 54 holes due to Tropical Storm Nicole, which hit the state on Thursday.

Forecasts called for 1-3 inches of rain and strong winds, with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. Local authorities closed schools and and any closed bridges would affect access to the course. Due to the high winds, it was not safe to have players, caddies, fans, volunteers and staff on site.

The first round of the Pelican Women’s Championship will begin no earlier than Friday at 6:55 a.m.

Canadians Brooke Henderson, Alena Sharp, Maude-Aimee Leblanc and Maddie Szeryk are scheduled to play.
