Maddie Szeryk shot a four-under 67 in Saturday’s third round of the Ascendant LPGA Benefiting Volunteers of America, where she’s solo fifth going into Sunday’s final round in The Colony, Tx.
Szeryk had just one bogey as she moved to nine under and within two shots of the lead shared by Xiyu Lin and Charley Hull.
“It was really exciting. I just came in today and was like let’s focus on making birdies, and can’t control anything else,” said Szeryk, who is a dual citizen from Texas.
“So just trying to have fun and enjoy having my family and friends out here, just played really solid and made some really good up-and -downs,” she said.
“I think I’m just really excited for tomorrow. I was feeling good coming into the week and just trying to enjoy myself. I love being out here and just to really feed into that and enjoy having the fans out and family and friends,” she added.
Brooke Henderson shot a round of 69 and goes into Sunday’s finale tied for 25th at two under.
