Notes: Early Start For Szeryk, Canadian Opens At Augusta National Women’s Amateur And More

Coming off her tie for seventh at the LPGA Drive On Championship near Phoenix, Maddie Szeryk will be in the first groups out in Thursday’s first round of the DIO Implant LA Open, starting at 7 a.m. local time on the 10th tee. Maude-Aimee Leblanc tees off at noon local time … Brooke Henderson beat Jessica Korda by one shot to win this event in 2021 when it was known as the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open. Henderson isn’t playing this week … After four years at Wilshire Country Club, this week’s event will be played at the Palos Verdes Golf Club … Monet Chun of Richmond Hill, Ont., opened the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Wednesday with a one-over 73 that has her tied for 16th going into Thursday’s second round when the cut will be made after 36 holes to the leading 30 players and ties. The leaderboard is here … Aaron Cockerill of Stony Mountain, Man., will have the Richardson Wealth logo on both sides of his bag during DP World Tour events as part of a new deal … Mike Loewen has been named head professional at the Morningstar Golf Club in Parksville, B.C. … Niagara National in Stevensville, Ont., is seeking pro shop assistants, back shop personnel, a driving range attendant, starters, turf maintenance staff, servers, beverage cart attendants and a halfway house server. As of this writing, 40 per cent of respondents said there is some interest among most golfers, 37 per cent said there is no interest and 23 per cent said most golfers are extremely interested.
