Notes: Moving Up In The World, Canada’s Only Champions Event, Majors And More

After his tie for second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday, Taylor Pendrith is right back in action this week at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C. He’ll be joined by Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Michael Gligic, Roger Sloan, Adam Svensson and Nick Taylor … Pendrith’s T2 finish in Detroit pushed him up the FedEx Cup standings to 62nd, securing full-time status on tour next year. He also vaulted from 237th in the official world golf rankings to 143rd, with Svensson close behind in 147th … The Wyndham Championship is the regular season finale on tour with Conners, Hughes, Adam Hadwin, Pendrith, Svensson and Taylor currently projected to finish inside the top 125 in FedEx Cup standings and move on to the FedEx Cup playoffs. Michael Gligic and Roger Sloan are projected to finish 126th to 200th, which earns them a spot in the Korn Ferry Finals, where 25 players can get status on the PGA Tour … Brooke Henderson goes into this week’s AIG Women’s Open at Muirfield seeking her second consecutive major championship after winning the Amundi Evian Championship in France. She’ll be joined by Maude-Aimee Leblanc, fresh off her T8 finish at the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open. Henderson comes in to the final major of the year ranked fifth in the world. Leblanc moved up 28 spots in the rankings to 109th in the world this week … Canada’s only PGA Tour Champions event goes this week with the Shaw Charity Classic teeing it up at Calgary’s Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. The entire field is here … The Utah Championship will be played this week on the Korn Ferry Tour, with Albin Choi, David Hearn, Ben Silverman and Stuart Macdonald in the field … On the Epson Tour, Maddie Szeryk, Selena Costabile, Alena Sharp and Rebecca Lee-Bentham will play the inaugural French Lick Charity Classic in French Lick, Ind. … Last week’s GNN Poll asked readers to give a score to the weather for golf so far this summer in the area in which they live. The majority, or 38 per cent of respondents said birdie, 29 per cent said par, 19 per cent said bogey and 14 per cent said eagle … This week’s poll asks readers how rounds in July compared to the same month a year ago where they work.
