American Scott Stevens won the Royal Beach Victoria Open, the first event on the PGA Tour Canada schedule, edging countryman Jake Knapp on the third playoff hole on Sunday. Besides his first professional win, Stevens earned 500 Fortinet Cup points and takes the early lead in the season-long points chase. Top Canadian was Joey Savoie of La Prairie, Que., who finished fourth at 14 under … The Prince Edward Island Open, the fourth event on the PGA Tour Canada schedule, has announced IMP Solutions as its presenting sponsor … The Shaw Charity Classic, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has announced that John Daly, Fred Couples and Padraig Harrington will play this year’s PGA Tour Champions event in Calgary in August … The top two finishers, not already exempt, at this week’s RBC Canadian Open at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Toronto, will earn a spot in the field for the 150th Open Championship, July 14-17 at St. Andrews … This week’s GNN Poll asks readers how their rounds in May compare to the same month last year at the golf courses where they work. As of this writing, 54 per cent of respondents said less than 2021, with 20 per cent saying much better and 17 per cent saying about the same. Another nine per cent said rounds were better.
