Notes: Presidents Cup, Hurricane Fiona Could Hit Atlantic Canada, Inflation And More

Canadians Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith played together in a Presidents Cup practice round on Tuesday. Whether that will be the case once official play begins remains to be seen … Canada’s inflation rate went down to seven per cent in August, according to Statistics Canada, but that was mostly due to falling gasoline prices. Food prices, however, continued to rise. The Statistics Canada report is here … Golf courses in Atlantic Canada could be feel the impact of Hurricane Fiona, a Category 3 hurricane as of this writing when it was on track to hit Canada’s east coast on Saturday. Fiona has already caused significant damage in both the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The track is uncertain at this point. Early voting shows that 53 per cent of respondents said no, 30 per cent said yes with 17 per cent saying the weather will decide closing day.
