The eight players who will automatically make the International team at the Presidents Cup will be determined next week. Corey Conners goes into the BMW Championship in sixth place in the International standing, so his first appearance in the President Cup is about to become official. Two-time Presidents Cup participant Adam Hadwin and Mackenzie Hughes are candidates as captain’s picks by Trevor Immelman on Monday, Aug. 29. Hadwin is currently 12th in the standings, with Hughes 14th. The Presidents Cup will be played Sept. 20-25 at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, N.C. … Bill Walsh recently won the PGA of Ontario’s Assistants’ Championship at Niagara National for the fifth time … A new commemorative clock will be unveiled officially at centennial celebrations for the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club in Sudbury, Ont., on Friday, Aug. 26 … This week’s GNN Poll asks readers if rising interest rates and inflation this summer have caused them to move back the start of their retirements from the golf industry.
