Calif. … Conners and Pendrith will leave Napa Sunday evening to fly to Charlotte for next week’s Presidents Cup … The Sanford Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D., is this week’s PGA Tour Champions stop with Stephen Ames and Mike Weir in the field … Brooke Henderson, Alena Sharp and Maddie Szeryk are playing the AmazingCre Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour. Henderson won the Portland event in 2015 and successfully defended the following year, The win in 2015 earned Henderson full-time membership on the LPGA Tour … Selena Costabile is the only Canadian in the field for this week’s Epson Tour event, the Guardian Championship in Prattville, Ala. … Tuesday is “Thank A Golf Course Superintendent Day.” It’s very rewarding to see this recognition of the value of our profession and the growth of Thank a Superintendent Day around the world,” said Pierre Vezeau, AGS, president of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association. “The CGSA is pleased to be leading the promotion of this initiative throughout Canada and we encourage all golf industry stakeholders to become involved. Together, we can attract more young turf professionals to great careers in golf.” The celebration on September 13 will include a commercial, recognizing superintendents around the world and social media messages. Golfers and others can join in the conversation on social media using the hashtag #ThankASuper … Last week’s GNN Poll question asked readers how rounds in August compared to the same month last year where they work. The final tally shows 51 per cent of respondents said less than 2021, 26 per cent said about the same and 23 per cent said better than 2021 … This week’s poll asks readers if rising interest rates/inflation have caused the golf business where they work to delay a major capital expenditure that was being considered for 2023.
