Three bogeys on his back nine derailed Stephen Ames in his quest to win this week’s PGA Tour Champions event, the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Wash.
Ames was bogey-free on his first nine of the day and he made the turn at six under, before bogeys on the 12th, 13th and 17th holes left him with a three-under round of 69 on Sunday.
At 11 under, Ames tied for third, four shots behind winner Miguel Angel Jimenez. It was the seventh top-10 finish for Ames in 16 events this season and the fourth time he’s finished in the top three.
Mike Weir shot 71 on Sunday and is tied for 14th at six under. Alan McLean of London, Ont., tied for 33rd.

PGA Tour
Corey Conners finished the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, the first tournament in the FedEx Cup playoffs, with a two-under 68 that left him in a tie for 28th.
Conners finished all four rounds in Memphis at seven under.
Mackenzie Hughes also finished with a 68 on Sunday to tie for 46th at four under. Another shot back at three under was Adam Svensson, who tied for 51st after he finished with a 73.
Taylor Pendrith and Adam Hadwin finished 68th and 69th, respectively.

Jake Scott of Strongsville, Ohio, shot a three-under 69 on Sunday at the Sani Marc Canada Cup in Victoriaville, Que., where he won by three shots over Toronto’s Drew Nesbitt.
Scott concluded the tournament at 24 under through all four rounds.
