Mito Pereira started Sunday with a three-shot lead and Justin Thomas was seven shots off the lead, so who would you favour to win the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa?
If you said either name, you would have been close as Pereira had a one-shot lead going onto his 72nd hole of the tournament, put his drive in the water and ended up with a double bogey that dropped him into a tie for third after he shot a five-over 75 in the final round.
One shot ahead of Pereira and Cameron Young were Thomas, who shot a final round 67, and Will Zalatoris, who finished the day with a 71. At five under, they were off to a three-hole aggregate playoff after Pereira faltered on the final hole of regulation.
After both players birdied the first playoff hole, Thomas took control when he drove the green on the 17th hole and posted a birdie, while Zalatoris parred. Both players parred the final hole of the playoff on 18.
Adam Hadwin finished with a 73 on Sunday to tie for 71st at 12 over.
