Tour Roundup: Weir Takes The Solo Lead At Champions Event

Mike Weir

Mike Weir birdied three of his final seven holes to finish the first round with a bogey-free, seven under 66 at the Cologuard Classic in Tucson where he holds a one-shot lead.

Weir also birdied his first two holes of the PGA Tour Champions event.

Stephen Ames finished the day with a 75 and is tied for 59th..

LPGA Tour

Brooke Henderson will be the lone Canadian playing the weekend after she fired a second round, three under 69 at the Gainbrdge LPGA event in Orlando to move into a tie for 16th on Friday.

Henderson reached the midway point of the tournament at four under through the first two rounds.

Puerto Rico Open

After his 66 in Thursday’s first round, Taylor Pendrith finished the second round with a one over 73 that left him at five under.

Pendrith is tied for 23rd at the midway point, along with Roger Sloan, who had a round of 69 on Friday.

WGC-Workday Classic at The Concession

Mackenzie Hughes, the lone Canadian in the field, shot his second consecutive one over 73 in the Friday’s second round and is tied for 54th in Bradenton, Fla.

Mackenzie Tour Qualifying Tournament

Colombia’s Camilo Aguado went wire to wire to win a Mackenzie Tour Qualifying Tournament at the Club at Weston Hills’ Players Course in Weston, Fla.

Aguado shot an even par 72 in Friday’s final round to finish at 18 under and win by three.

Raoul Ménard of Ange-Gardien, Que. tied for 24th at five under through all four rounds to earn conditional status on tour in 2021.

Aquado receives exempt membership for the entire 2021 season, while second through sixth finishers will be exempt through a mid-season reshuffle. Those finishing seventh through 25th plus ties will receive conditional membership.
