Mike Weir opened Saturday’s final round of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in Hawaii with six birdies in his first seven holes and finished the day with a six-under 66.
At 17 under, Weir opened the PGA Tour Champions season with a tie for second, six shots behind winner Steve Stricker, who finished on Saturday with a 65.
Stephen Ames shot a 74 on Saturday to tie for 26th at seven under.

Adam Hadwin began Saturday’s third round of the American Express with four consecutive birdies and finished with four more in his final seven holes.
With his third round 64, Hadwin moved into a tie for 16th at 15 under, eight shots behind leader Jon Rahm.
