Galvin Green is going with a layered look to its presentation as it unveils its 2015 collection to buyers.
“One of the great things about Galvin Green is that we are a company that deals with high end outerwear, but we always want to talk about our layering story,” said Jonathan Wong, president of Galvin Green Canada.
“We’re marketing big into the multi-layer concept this year with our outer protection, which is our outerwear, thermal, which is your cool and warm layer, and your base layer, your dry comfort,” he added.
“That’s one of the things we’re basing a lot of our marketing around and with that, we have different categories,” said Wong, adding that Galvin Green has put some extra features into a familiar piece for 2015.
“One of the largest-selling products for Galvin Green has been the Alf trouser. It’s been in the collection for 10 years now. It’s a Gore-Tex performance shell pant with a lining and this year, we’ve added an Alf with stretch details to it,” said Wong.
Alf Stretch will have the same breathable and durable qualities, but the stretch material will be applied in the direction of movement to provide better freedom of movement.
The rain segment also features Archie, a short-sleeved anorak with five colour combinations within the collection. The lightweight anorak is designed to be flexible and features Gore-Tex Paclite technology for comfort and freedom of movement.
Bourne, a new windproof jacket in a lightweight Windstopper material for breathability, will feature a design that adds details such as decorative stitching and partial pipings and comes with full zip, two front pockets and soft cuffs.
New Insula material has been introduced to offer more softness and flexibility while retaining body heat insulation and breathability in pieces such as Dex, a new Insula anorak available in various colour combinations.
“We’ve added another shirt in the Ventil8 material, which is a high performance material with some colour blocking on it and we’ve done quite a few print pieces,” said Wong.
“We’ve found that we’ve done very well with out printed garments and we’ve got two new shirts with printed details on them,” he added.
Maddox is a new tri-coloured shirt in Ventil8 material and features an advanced body mapping system that provides extra ventilation in areas that need it the most for comfort in hot weather.
Also new in Ventil8 is the Northam patteerned trousers in a flexible, stretch material. A special technique has been used to heat apply the checkered pattern to the stretch material, so the material can retain all of its properties.
“Some of the new colours we’ve launched are Summer Sky, a new colour. We’ve got a gunmetal with Grape colour, an Emerald green colour, so everything’s a little more on the pastel side,” said Wong.
“One of the largest improvements in our collection is the ladies’ collection. I think we’ve really started to hit a fashion niche,” he added.
Adele is a waterproof rain jacket in Gore-Tex material featuring a “zip-garage” that conceals the zips on the front pockets and decorative inserts and pipings to accentuate the cut.
Featuring lightweight, flexible Gore-Tex Paclite material, April is a short-sleeved rain jacket with a full zip that makes it easy to take off and put on during play.
Also in the Gore-Tex Paclite technology is Agnes, a long-sleeved jacked with built-in stretch panels for extra flexibility. The stretch effect runs horizontally across the back and vertically down the sleeves. Sizes range from XXS to XXL to offer it to a greater range of women golfers.
Blossom is one of two new Windstopper models, a tri-coloured jacket available in four colour lines and featuring concealed zips, partial pipings and a two-toned zip.
Demi is a new Insula jacket, made of material that offers a snug fit to make it barely noticeable under a Gore-Tex or Windstopper jacket, while in Ventil8, Melissa offers a sporty dress and Millie is a new blouse as Galvin Green takes a fully-integrated approach and presents new trousers, skirts, shirts and shorts in Ventil8.
“We have some great colour stories in Berry, Angel blue and I think we’ve hit on some very good products,” said Wong.
