TOUR360 XT Adds To adidas’ TOUR360 Franchise, Including Spikeless And BOA Models

January 28, 2019 By GNN

The TOUR360 XT is the newest model in the TOUR360 franchise from adidas Golf

Part of the adidas introduction is the new TOUR360 XT SL, the first-ever spikeless version in the history of TOUR360 . The spikeless model will also come in a BOA version, the TOUR360 XT SL BOA.

The new footwear earns its name due to the X-shaped traction system (X-Traxion) on the outsole, providing multi-directional grip throughout the swing. These X-shaped lugs are used to provide more stability and to react with better traction through uneven lies due to their eight-sided touch points with the ground.

Players will be able to feel even more locked in throughout the swing as a result, allowing the lugs to react to any conditions a player might encounter. The underlying thread between all three models is this X-shaped traction system to provide the best grip without sacrificing any comfort.

The entire outsole features the X-Traxion lug system, strategically placed so players get the comfort of spikeless, while still maintaining the grip they expect from a high-performance shoe.

The X-shape lugs also vary in height, allowing for some lugs to go deeper into the ground, which adidas found to help increase overall traction. The shoe is also highlighted by the X-Torsion system through the midfoot to provide more stability and control throughout the swing.

The X-Torsion system features an X-shape, connecting the heel and forefoot, which is visible through the TPU outsole. It also features a full-length Boost in the midsole, to provide energy return and even more comfort.

The TOUR360 XT SL comes in four colorways with a one-year waterproof warranty and is sure to change the game in spikeless performance footwear.

“We wanted to make the highest performing spikeless shoe in the industry,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director for adidas Golf.

“We tested all shapes and configurations and found that the X-shape, along with a rubberized TPU outsole, provided unmatched grip, stability, flexibility and performance. The X-shape also increases ground contact and provides more comfort on all surfaces,” he said.

The TOUR360 XT is completely redesigned. One of the key features is the new TPU outsole, a new eight-spike execution in combination with the X-Traxion secondary lugs for additional grip and stability.

By removing two spikes from the previous model, adidas sought to increase flexibility and comfort, while decreasing overall weight.

Boost cushioning has also been re-engineered from heel to toe. Boost pieces in the heel and forefoot are now slightly wider and move through larger expansion holes on the bottom to improve both stability and comfort.

The new BOOST cushioning has a lower-profile execution for improved aesthetics, while also giving players a better feel with the ground.

Underneath the 3-Stripes in the TOUR360 XT, adidas implemented the new forging technique by heating that portion of the upper to increase stability in the midfoot, while also reducing overall weight of the shoe. It features a rich premium leather upper that comes with a two-year waterproof warranty. It will be available in three colorways.

The TOUR360 XT SL BOA features all the benefits of the TOUR360 XT SL, but is highlighted by the L6 Boa closure system on the tongue for easy customizable micro-adjustability.

A new INSITE sockliner (featured in all three models) also helps improves stability and balance by cupping the heel, which helps promote better posture. The TOUR360 XT SL BOA comes with a premium microfiber leather upper and a one-year waterproof warranty. It will be available in two colorways.

The TOUR360 XT and TOUR360 XT SL come in both medium and wide options while the TOUR360 XT BOA comes in wide only. All three models are offered on a brand new last to improve aesthetics, more forefoot width and a slightly lower ceiling.
